BOOST&Co has completed the latest stage in its expansion across the UK – opening an office in Bristol to serve the south-west of England, just 10 weeks after the company launched its Manchester branch.
The independent asset manager provides growth capital to fast-growing and high-tech SMEs, and the new office will enable the firm to work with the area’s thriving business community, says partner Lance Mysyrowicz.
“We have invested successfully in SMEs in the south-west in the past few years, but our coverage of the region has been limited for lack of a local presence. Opening a new office in Bristol demonstrates our commitment to building on this success and will help us to service innovative SMEs in the region better,” Mysyrowicz says.
Building on success
BOOST&Co Bristol will build on the company’s successful recent investments in local SMEs, such as BaseKit, which sells website-building software to small businesses. The new base will also help the lender to achieve its aim of increasing its number of portfolio companies in the south-west.
BOOST&Co lends more and earlier than the banks, offering loans ranging from £2m to £10m. It has a strong track record in software, medtech, adtech, internet and life sciences, but its venture debt and invoice-financing products are available to businesses in all sectors.
The company sources, executes and monitors deals in south-west England from its Bristol office. The firm also has branches in London and Manchester, and further UK outposts are expected to open by the end of 2019.
The Bristol team
BOOST&Co Bristol is led by principal Lauren Couch, who has 17 years’ experience in banking and private equity.
“Bristol is unique and forward-thinking, just like BOOST&Co,” Couch says. “We want to offer a true alternative to traditional finance and give flexibility for businesses to grow without restriction. I’m excited about leading BOOST&Co in the south-west and helping great companies in the region to achieve next-level growth.”
The Bristol office – in Orchard Street, just off College Green and next to Bristol Cathedral – launches with an official invitation-only launch on Wednesday 8 May.
